Local user account disappeared and windows defaulted to admin account after update

I am using windows 10 and after restarting my pc yesterday and running some updates on windows the default account disappeared and the system defaulted to the administrator account. The biggest problem is that most of my files and documents are gone and there is no option to change the user. Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can log in with a local user account as the default account? I have a lot of work related files and documents that I need to get back. Please help.
