Built in Microphone Not Working but All Settings are OK

The built-in microphone on my laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad running Windows 10) has stopped working. I've tried troubleshooting and all the settings seem to be in order. The mic is listed in Device Manager as working properly and the driver is up to date. I have also made sure that apps are allowed to use the mic. However, when I go into the Sound Recorder, the mic is there but when I try to record a sound nothing gets recorded. Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem? Thanks!
