How to find Bitlocker recovery key?

I am trying to access my Bitlocker recovery key so that I can log into my laptop. I go to my Microsoft profile online - then Devices - then Security and Bitlock security data. Normally I would expect to have my recovery key showing, however it says that no code has been downloaded on my microsoft account. Can anyone help with recovering my Bitlocker code?thanks,Florentina
