Can't find device on microsoft account. "We can't locate your device right now, try again later"

I'm using Surface Pro 6. The thing is when i unplug it from power source, it thinks for a while and shows "We can't locate your device right now, try again later". But when i reload the page with power plugged in, it shos location almost instantly.If that's just how it works, then how am I supposed to find my device without a charger. Is there a way to fix it?
