problem in Remote desktop

I have windows server 2012 r2 I can connect to it by using remote desktop with no problem. But when I try to connect to same server by remote desktop by same username and password through VPN give me wrong username or password It is first time I see this problem if you please tell me any way to fix this problemMany thanks
