I have a problem with Face Book Messenger

G'day, I am in my mid-80s. I get confused with some computer problems. I communicate with my family by using Messenger. I do not know what I must have done. I have a problem receiving messages. I see a message saying the message is waiting. I wait but the message does not come. I would very much like for somebody to tell me what I must do.Thank you. Malcolm
