Keys are inverted. How to stop this?

When I go to login with my password after turning on my computer, the keys are inverted. The caps lock makes the letters miniscule and turning it off makes them large, same thing for the numbers, the symbols are in use instead. Plus, when I go to the on-screen keyboard, it insists that my shift keys are being pressed down when they are not? Please help.
