Setting up Microsoft 365

I recently bought a new laptop and purchased microsoft 365 for it. However when I went to use my code and set it up, it wouldn't allow me to as my previous laptop is linked to my microsoft account. It says I need to remove my previous device from my account, however I would like I keep using it in addition to my new laptop.I would appreciate some advice as to what is best to do please. If I remove my previous laptop from my Microsoft account, what will happen to it? Thank you!
