I have said the same thing, Godfrey......a few times! All I asked was that
the problem be described in WHOLE words and punctuated so that us 'old
folks' could understand. I am ready, willing, and happy to help in any way
I can. All I ask is for a proper presentation of the issue.
Heirloom, old and pokes fun, but, still willing to
help

I fully agree. Those who have posted here in the past in French, Italian,
Spanish or German have been referred to a more appropriate newsgroup in
their language. In several cases some of us have tried to help after
using AltaVista to translate or know a smattering or better of the
language involved. In this case I feel that those trying to assist have
gone out of their way to try and help and that despite comments asking her
to use English and to use sentences and punctuation nellie has stubbornly
refused to do so and even worse has repeatedly criticised those trying to
help. Ungrateful as a description of her attitude is one word that comes
to mind although I can think of others. Sadly despite there being well
over 90,000 newsgroups on Usenet, the majority being text only such as
this, none that I know of are for those who have an inability to post in a
recognised language but instead use a childish and mostly and often
meaningless sort of shorthand (Textspeak perhaps?).

I'm working on the '3 strikes' rule.

This is (at least) the third time I've attempted to assist nellie with one
problem or another in this NG (both in 'real words' and attempted
'textspeak') and I've had no real feedback as to whether my suggestions have
been successful or otherwise. Instead, I've either had a 'smart arse'
complaint or no replies at all.

No more, nellie - as far as I'm concerned, you're out!

Whilst I have chosen to sit out these posts and just be an observer I feel
that you have gone out of your way to try and help but have received in
return neither thanks or feedback but instead criticism.

Mike, who is dearly hoping that Cable & Wireless, who are now on their
13th or greater strike, will manage to get my phone working again tonight.
On past progress I have difficulty in rating their changes at more than
10%. Even worse is the bill I have received for redirecting incoming
calls (that they cannot deliver) to my mobile. They say that they will
reimburse me but that means I have to stay with them until the problem is
fixed.

May be, but you're not good either.
If you were, you would respond in kind to the people trying to help you in
any way they can, yet you totally ignore all their efforts on your behalf.
That leaves only one conclusion: You do not deserve their help.
Are you sure you don't need professional help of some sort instead? <H>.

I just plugged her OP Message-ID$ into a Google Search. Oddly, the most
lucid "Nellie" posts are the recent 'sporgeries' which, of course, were
likely not actually posted by "Nellie".

Given her regression to a highly stylized "textspeak", I am beginning to
suspect "Troll".

Norman, I noticed that, as well. Mike pointed out some time ago that a
post had come from Las Vegas, I saw one from Atlanta. I think it was our
Harry that suspected a lurking troll simply throwing bait out to see who
would bite....I must admit, I took a couple of nibbles. :-(

Yes Norman, I was beginning to smell a bad odour, hence my description of
'its' complaint. Just wondered if more (counter-troll) bait might have
prompted a spleen-venting exercise - or should that be 'exorcise'

All of the posts from nellie that I still have available, that is since 4
Feb, have been posted from:
ip70-173-192-199.lv.lv.cox.net 70.173.192.199
which I thought, but am probably wrong, were from the Las Vegas area via
Cox net. I suspect your reference to Atlanta is because this is the
registered address for Cox net. Routing from me to 70.173.192.199
currently goes via 24.234.6.58 which is an address allocated to Prime
Cable of Las Vegas.

The lv in the Cox address suggests to me a Las Vegas area location.

That's what I came up with also, Mike. I wonder if maybe "nellie" may be
some young, bored airman stationed at Nellis AFB.
