Vista is infected.

Hello,

I'm using Vista as OS and I think my laptop is infected.
After vista load and after I input my username and passsword, the screen
goes black and cannot do anything else.

Is there any solution or advice that can help save my laptop or reinstalling
is the only suggestion?

Thank you in advance!

There are ways to 'save' your installation but the time and effort involved
to do so may not be justified:
1. Find the virus
2. Remove the virus
3. Check the integrity of your system (e.g. make sure that operating systems
and applications have not been modified by the virus) - if you run an
executable on your system, this may not be your system anymore...

If you suspect your system is infected, the quickest recovery strategy is:
1. Reboot in another OS, a recovery console (such as ERD Commander, or a
Linux live CD)
2. Backup all your data and settings
3. Re-install Vista
4. Recover all your data and settings from backup

What makes you believe this is due to an infection?

From your description, I am not sure a malware infection is the only
possible cause of the problem. It may just as well be corrupted system files
or some other form of damage to the OS.

Try to recover the system using the installation disk first. If you are
successful at getting it back to working order, try to identify what caused
the blackout, including running thorough malware checks.

Take a look at the troubleshooting advice in these Windows Help articles,
and follow Malke's general malware removal advice in the Microsoft

I agree with Charlie - this is probably not a Virus. Most likely you have a
monitor setting issue. Boot to safe mode and try resetting your monitor
resolution. If you have added any software or updated any drivers you can
roll back your changes from "Safe Mode" using the system recovery.

Any Update Mingo?
----
and well of course dont forget any Blue Screen or such error, either way if
its a virus it will have to mimic one esp with that capability, or it is just
a regular error.
