How to fix error printing from windows10 laptop to a printer hardwired to a mac running macOS 15.1 sequoia

We got a new desktop, replacing an intel-based iMac with a new M4 chip mini. Have a Xerox Phaser 6500N (which for those unfamiliar does not have wifi capability) hardwired via ethernet to the new mac. After some challenges, now that's working. Settings are set to 'share'. Went into setting on our laptop, found the printer which is correctly described as connected to the mini, but it throws an error whenever we try to print. Any ideas on how to solve this?
