my laptop does not want to go to sleep

I have an HP Probook 640 G1 and i just changed the battery but when i put the laptop to sleep it immediately wakes up, and even more strangely when i shut it down entirely it would not power on unless the charger is connected or disconnect the battery and connect it again. Sorry i forgot to mention that none of this happens with the charger connected and it also keeps flashing the charger light on and of the entire time and do have some videos but no idea as how to upload them
