Any ideas how I can fix this and download some updates? I'd really like to
be able to get some of the Ultimate Extras, but until I get this squared
away, I can't do anything in Microsoft Update. Thanks!

So, then that would be a better symptom to report than the final error code.
Since CBS is mentioned perhaps you should look in the CBS.log?

If that's not enough turn on verbose logging wherever you can
and if necessary supplement that with ProcMon.
So far you have insufficient details to identify your symptom cause.
