Lock desktop

[Bill Leary]

Is there a means, even third party, to lock the icons on the desktop so they
can't be moved or deleted and no new ones can be added?

I'm dealing with a user who likes to "play" with the desktop and I keep
having to make service calls because things are messed up, duplicated, or
missing.

[Heirloom]

If you simply want to maintain the icon configuration/placement.......there
is a very tiny app called "Save My Desktop!" that works great. You could
save the desktop as you left it and be able to restore it with a couple of
mouse clicks. Do a Google search, it is available from a number of places.
May be mistaken, but, I think the latest version is 1.2.

Yeah, if I were up there, I would simply be 'tired of snow'!!! We have
enough things to get tired with.....I have been mowing my yard (it is that
green stuff underneath the feet of snow in front of your house). Trimming
trees and shrubs has taken its' toll. Oh yeah, and riding my bikes!!!

In addition to the program mentioned by Heirloom, there are 2 other similar
programs that you could take a look at. I'm guessing that they all do pretty
much the same thing.

Hey O.J.!!!
Thanks for the input. I looked at the ones you mentioned. I
was a tad dismayed at the first one, not having an uninstall
feature....needing to download that seperately. The second one looked
pretty nice, however, the GUI alone is probably a bigger file than the whole
of Save My Desktop!. This was the smallest of all the programs that I
found. All I wanted was something to put the icons back in place, no bells
and whistles (like Iconoid, it has become waaaay to large).
Oh, BTW, beware of the "hlp with browser win" thread.....I
noticed you tried to help out there. I'll just say that nothing you could
possibly do or offer would be of any help and this would not be a
shortcoming on your part!!!
