My mouse gets the jitters

I ran for virus and adware. Nothing. Periodically, the mouse starts to
jump about erratically. Like the PC is really busy even though it
shouldn't be. This gets worse until it is not usable. Continues even
after all applications are closed. Symptoms are gone after reboot. I
never had this on my old PC running at 450MHz on win 98. I am now at
2.6GHz with win 98SE. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is this
common?

While it sounds like a controller gone nuts, have you tried a different
mouse? Otherwise, I recommend using a different interface --- If now you use
USB mouse, try the PS/2 slot (may require an adapter), and vice versa.

It sounds like what happened to me. Ultimately, the cure was a new
mouse. Two dozen cleanings of the ball & rollers & untwistings of the
cord did provide spells of relief until then, but was ultimately
tiresome to continue.

Problem resolved. A program (SBC Tools) from my internet provider was
gobbling up recourses. Uninstalled it. )

Thing to remember: "Mouse gets jitters" = "low resources".

Funny, we'd all recognize it if we saw it, just didn't flash on it from the
description.

Interesting. My mouse jitters came & went too, but ultimately came to
stay, until I finally switched to an MS WheelMouse Optical. I hope yours
are gone for good.
