Does anyone know how I can stop certain programs from automatically starting
when I turn my computer on?

I'm sure that quite a few people know.

I suspect that Uncle Grumpy might answer "Yes" once
again . . . When writing a good post, it is important to
think about the meaning of your question. Instead of
asking
"Does anyone know how . . ."
you should ask
"How can I . . . "

Here is another example: Instead of asking
"Is it possible to . . .",
you should ask
"How do I . . ."

It all comes under the subject of "clear thinking".

By reading my reply to your second post (which, incidentally,
was much better than your first post because you thought of a
meaningful Subject line).

Just answered in another thread. Please don't ask the same question
twice, just minutes apart.

left click START... select RUN... enter msconfig... select STARTUP tab...
untick the apps that you dont want to run at startup... apply and reboot.
i appologise for the useless responses from people who know better.

The correct answer would be to start by Right-clicking on the
applications Icon in the notification area, and using the menu they
provide to set the desired preferences for the program involved. The
MSCONFIG routine should only be used for troubleshooting.

Lots of ways, but the best way is to open the program in question and
tell it NOT load automatically when windows loads. That's really the
best way to start, rather than using msconfig or some other utility.
