Read-only property won't turn off

Hello, I can't switch off the read-only property of my Favorites folder or
any of its sub-folders. This means that I can't add any favorites - which is
a right pain in the backside.

Actually, the same applies to other folders in my folder.

Can anyone help me sort this out?

Michelle,

The folder you are looking at is not 'read-only'. Folders are not
'read-only' or 'not read-only' the attribute does not apply to folders.
Check the attribute again, note that it is a colored in box, NOT a check
mark. The filled in box simply means that this attirbute does not apply.

Hello,

The read-only checkbox on folders is misleading.

It is not used to set the read-only attribute on the folder.

It is used to easily change the readonly attribute on all the files
inside the folder.

If you clear it and click ok/apply, it will clear the read-only
attribute of all the files in the folder.

If you check it and click ok/apply, it will set the read-only attribute
of all the files in the folder.

Note that the checkbox is filled in with a square when you open the
properties screen - this is not checked, this is called the
"intdeterminate state", which means neither checked nor unchecked.

Problems regarding "access denied" are usually related to security
permissions (the security tab).

What specific problem are you encountering?
