UPDATE: Dead laptop comes back to "Life" Mystery

Brad

Hi,

Well it didn't last long, around 6 days, but this time it "died" while
I was downloading. I will not spend any more time trying to fix this
Compaq Presario 1200XL110. I removed the 3V RTC/CMOS battery,
which I bought new. I check the voltage (2.98V).

Well so much for my "low cmos" battery theory. It was a long shot anyway.
Thanks for posting back with the results.

Too bad it didn't last. (It seemed to be a surprising & happy success at
first!) I can only guess there came a point when it needed to have a
main battery installed, even though you had it plugged into a wall
socket. (But I really know nothing.) In case you change your mind & want
to research it...

Google reports about 37,700 for Compaq Presario 1200XL110.
