Start Menu Present but start button has dissapeared

morning all,

today one of my office computers started and the start menu is there it is on do not autohide so i can visibly see it but there is no actual start button can anyone shed some light???

Have you rebooted the PC? I do not understand the exact problem--you can
see the start menu but there is no start button??? You mention autohide but
that pertains to the taskbar. Are you actually saying that the taskbar has
disappeared and the autohide setting is not selected? If so, run the cursor
over the line at the bottom of the screen (assumes the bottom is where you
kept the taskbar) and when a double headed arrow appears, left click and
pull the taskbar up.

I can see the start bar my shortcuts clock and system tray are all visible but there is no start button even if i press start on keyboard the menu doesnt appear

You have a comedian in your office. Try rebooting the PC. That should
restore the Start Button.
