Unable to load xls files properly

Help! Trying to load files for work, and the disc will not load. Works fine
on every other computer in the office, but not my Vista Home Premium. I did
install Office 2003 so I could open the file, but it comes up as a "read
only", and denies me when I uncheck the box for "read only". I need to be
able to save and e-mail these spread sheets. How can I do this?

Copy the file from the disc to your hard drive, then open it.
Files recorded to a CD are always "read only".

-- Thanks Carey. Both I and the boss have tryed to do that, but there seems
to be a conflict with the Vista. Can you tell me how to copy to the hard
drive? That's exactly what we have been trying to do, to no avail. I guess I
need step by step instructions.

Click the Start Orb

Click "Help and Support"

Click "Windows Basics"

Under "Programs, files, and folders" heading...

Click "Working with Files and folders"

Click "Copying and moving files and folders"

Read.

One thing to keep in mind is that Vista's security setting's may prevent you
from copying files to specific directories (folders). The folders you
can -always- copy to are the logged on user's "user folders." If you're
logged on as "Mike," then there's going to be a "Mike" folder in the "Users"
folder on your system drive. (Most likely the C: drive, but not always...)
You may, depending on how your PC's configured at the moment, have a "Mike"
folder on your desktop. If not, then there will be a button named "Mike" on
the Start Orb menu, in the right hand column, right at the top. Click on
that to open the "Mike" folder.

Drill into whichever folder you need to... documents, for example. Then open
another window for the CD drive. You should be able to select the
folders/files in the CD drive window and "drag" them over to the
Mike\Documents folder. Dragging is simply clicking the mouse button on one
of the selected folders/files and -without releasing- the mouse button, move
it over to the other window. You should see, oh, I don't know what they're
called... shadow (?) representations of the folders/files as you drag the
mouse pointer. When the mouse pointer is over the window/folder to which you
want to copy the files, -then- release the mouse button.

Do read the Windows help on copying/moving folders/files... depending on the
"copy from" and "copy to" locations, the drag and drop functionality acts
differently and I'm not going into that right here and now.
