Okay, for some reason, I got the impression that *at times* it did NOT work
over the network.

|
| Correct, but you reminded me of one additional thing that may mean
| something to you. It makes no sense to me and I'm not certain of the
| facts surrounding it.
|
| I have checked the printer cable connections a couple of times, thinking
| that was all it could be. (BTW, I'm using the USB connection.) One,
| and only one, of the times I disconnected and reconnected the cable, I
| was able to print from the base 98SE system.

There is a potential that uninstalling/removing the USB subs and hubs may
correct the issue. This refreshes the registry entries and related spooler
controls for the printer. FIRST though, double check the USB settings and
use usbview [its on your 98 installation CD in tools\reskit\diagnose] to
make sure of the actuall settings being used. Highlight what it shows for
the printer, copy and paste into a text file [not Word] and save for
reference.

|
| Correct.

|
| Correct, since that software is used for the other two machines and works.

|
| Not because of the printing problem, because the settings are fine for
| the other machines. However, I am regularly changing the settings as a
| routine matter.

|
| Yes, I knew. It was replaced. Thank you.

| I'll check this out. I'm not familiar with ftp sites, but no time like
| the present to find out.

|
| Yes. All of them. There were some general and those specific to the
| printer, in the System/Device/Manager.

|
| A desktop digital speaker system. I'll try pulling that USB cable.

Do that to help isolate the issue.

Let me stop comments until to you respond with whether this is built in USB
2.0 or being supplied by an extra adapter card.

The issues may revolve several others, in addition to what has already been
addressed.
I'm going to cross post this to win98.gen_discussion so others might help
with the issue since we now have several issue out of the way..

| No idea of what to look for since two printers work.
