Error message after Service Pack 2 install on Windows Server 2003

Hi,
I've installed SP2 on a copy of our server in a virtual machine. The update
is running through but when I restart the server I receive the following
error message: "Service Control Manager: Windows could not be started as
configured. A previous working configuration was used instead."

This is exactly the same error as described in KB924690. Unfortunately they
didn't post a fix for this error or write where to look at.
The solution they have only prevent the message from appearing.
SP2 on another server went fine....

I should but it may take a week or more to get an answer. If you have an
MSDN subscription you might try asking in one of the managed groups.
