backup suggestions

what is most simplest way in Windows environment, to connect Windows
machines, and leverage the 2nd machine has a sort of backup resource.

I want to basically have the data at time I write it on one machine
for just one folder and its trees also data to the second machine. So
if I lose data on mone machine at least there is a basic.

This is my resources at hand (2 computers), and I want to find a way
to do this for some internal software development assets I want to
have redundancy copies of.

And also, I need this freeware :) if it can be done, I appreciate
the advise and assistance.

hello,

on windows 2003, you can use DFS to replicate (free/builtin with windows).

If you do not have a windows domain (AD), you may use syncback to make the
trick:

It can backup but also maintain identical folders between two machines.

You may also used robocopy (usefull if tons of small files or to maintain
permissions identical):

Sounds like folder Synchronisation or you may want to look at Volume
shadow......
