Windows XP Support Extended until 2014

We can still use the best OS made from Microsoft until windows7 comes out.
That way we can skip the horrible VISTA monster.
Even though MS would like XP to vanish and everyone to buy Vista - Crapista
many companies will still be offering XP with new computers via various
workarounds.

The demand for XP will be very strong until and if a better version of
windows than Vista the OS for MORONS, comes out

Article:

Microsoft has finally given in to public demand. The company has decided to
offer technical support for Windows XP with updates and security patches for
an extended period until April 2014. However, it will not go back on its
decision to discontinue Windows XP sales after June 30.

This means that after June 30, Microsoft will stop distributing Windows XP
as a stand-alone product, as well as stop licensing it to PC manufacturers
like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and others. However, it doesn't mean that XP will
disappear overnight. Consumers may still find copies of the software or
computers pre-loaded with it for months, as stores and PC makers typically
work through their inventories.

Also, as per an announcement made at Computex earlier this month, the
software giant said that 'nettops' better defined as PCs with limited
hardware or ultra-low cost PCs will be available with Windows XP until
January 2009.

Additionally, under another program, Microsoft is allowing customers to
downgrade Vista systems to XP through a loophole in the company's licensing
terms. So those purchasing a copy of Vista will also be able to run XP at no
additional cost.

Microsoft's move to extend the deadline for technical support is primarily
influenced by large business customers, who haven't yet upgraded their
systems to Windows Vista. The companies have been reluctant to switch to
Vista due to the costs and heavy system requirements involved. So, large
business customers might just skip Vista and continue with XP until the
release of Windows 7, which is scheduled for release in 2010.

Techtree India not being smart enough to point out in its scribblings
that the information is from a January 2007 press release? Techtree is
asleep! What will their next headline be? Intel releases EMT64 to
counter competition from the AMD64 chip? That XP support information is
old news that has often been requested and posted in these groups.

windows 7 might very well be windowsXP and Vista-crapista the same stupid
idiotic quality of windowsMe

many already call vista "the windows ME of the NT kernel"

and they are right... only that I believe that vista is actually worse than
windows Me due to the fact that MS insist on pushing it hard on machines
and you cant get XP easily....

back when win98 and Me existed there was no "activation" so you could even
wipe your me box and install a win98 OS with no problem with activations.
Although it was theoretically illegal many people had no alternative.

Now with vista and xp and their activation stuff, you cant do that, so you
would need to buy a new XP to get rid of a faulty Vista.

MS has a bargain.. many people are buying 2 operating systems just to get
some decent performance..

oh boy vista sucks...

Sorry to disappoint you again, but the lifecycle tables have long stated
that XP is in extended support from April 2009 to April 2014. If you spent
half the time reading the sources (Microsoft) as you do outside websites you
would have known this tidbit for the last few years already just like the
rest of us.

We've known this for ages! Do you think you are telling us anything
new? Do you really think that Techtree India hashing out information
given by Microsoft in a January 2007 press release and passing it like so:

"Microsoft has *finally* given in to public demand. The company has
decided to offer technical support for Windows XP with updates and
security patches for an extended period until April 2014..."

and pretending that this is developing news on June 25, 2008 makes them
look smart and on the ball in the fast paced world of information
technology? It's a darn good thing that they don't report and write
about the automobile industry because their headline today would
probably read that after disappointing sales figures Ford finally pulled
the plug on the Edsel!
