Word 2000

8 year old system with ME IE 6sp1, all of a sudden unable to open word docs,
no error msg, just hour glass timing, have to reboot to use other apps.
Seems to me I had this problem a long time ago, but can't remember the
solution.

Not necessarily, but maybe :-

Sounds like you *may* have a damaged 'normal.dot' template. One of the most
common problems with Word not opening is due to a faulty (corrupted)
'normal.dot' template. You could try renaming/deleting the 'normal.dot'
template (Don't worry, a new one will be generated, if successful)

Take a look at the MS Knowledge Base article :-
"WD2000: Invalid Page Fault When Normal.dot Is a Document"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kben-us211541

Otherwise, you could try posting to one of the Word newsgroups

Best of luck

Mart
