1. Since AOL 9.0 Security Edition includes McAfee VirusScan (and possibly
the McAfee firewall), so you do NOT want AVG Free AV installed (and you
don't want the Windows Firewall enabled if the AOL/McAfee suite includes its
own firewall). Please take the necessary steps/make the necessary
corrections before proceeding below.
2. Now open Security Center and tell me the reported status for (a) the
anti-virus (b) the firewall and (c) Automatic Updates. (The first 2
should show ON in green the last should show CHECK SETTINGS in yellow since
"Notify Only" is selected).
If Security Center is not monitoring the status of anti-virus and/or
firewall, correct this via "Change the way Security Center alerts me" in
left pane.
3a. Now read this KB article:
How to read the WindowsUpdate.log file

3b. Now open WindowsUpdate.log (not Windows_Update.log, if found), scroll to
the very bottom, then start scrolling upwards and examining the log for
errors (including error numbers) that may be associated with the update you
chose to download but which hasn't (yet). Tell me what you find (especially
if you find "Update is not allowed to download due to regulation").
