SE and Lexar jump drive

My jump drive works fine if I have it plugged into the USB port when I boot
the computer. However, if I boot the computer without the drive plugged in,
it won't recognize it when I do plug it in. I've tried to let the computer
find it as new hardware, but it doesn't see it. Anyone got a fix for this
one? Thanks

This issue seems to crop up, at times, in other systems/OSs as well.

SE had an update for Firewire which also addressed the *hotplug* aspect
[files are used for/in USB depending upon the device support]:

Direct download [583 KB, English]:

Other users have found that using the Maximus Decim Universal Driver [or
other] fixed their issues.

Make sure you follow the included directions [readme or other] for
installation.

Tried both downloads, but the problem persists. The jump drive is actually
listed in Device Manager as drive F: but won't show up in the file manager
unless it's installed prior to boot. At least I can use it though.........

Also check in the drive's properties sheet (in DM), if the drive is checked
off as "Removable"
