Difference Between Terminal Services and VMWare?

What is the difference between MSTSC, Terminal Services, that I have
on XP Pro and above and VMWare? Are they the same type of software
just different makers?

Mstsc is a client to connect remotely to servers or workstation higher then
XP.

VMware virtualised complete operating systems either with windows/linux installed
or directly on hardware.
