2000 printer driver on Server 2003R2

Is it ok to install a win2k print driver on a windows server 2003r2? the
printer is very old and the company is no longer updating the print driver -
i do not want to introduce any sort of instability to this server. i am
under the impression that win2k and win2003 are similar enough that you can
use the print drivers released for win2k on the 2003 server, correct?

thanks for your comment.

Hello Magoo,

I think it will not work. What kind of printer is it?

Best regards

Most printer drivers for Windows 2000 will work on Windows 2003, but there
may well be "stability" issues for the Windows 2003 server, especially if
the printer driver is a "kernel mode" (driver model version 2) driver.

I suggest testing it in test environment to see what issues there are, if
any.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
