Ronald E. Foltz

just installed a new printer but have information for two previous printers
on the computer. . no "uninstall" file files found for either and nothing in
"add and remove programs". . .can i just delete the "keys" in the registry
to take them off my computer??? thanks for any help . . i have WinXP home

it is your registry and
can do whatever you
want with it - it is your
right to learn more
about crazy stuff like
this.

personally, i wouldn't
bother with the keys
you mentioned.

however, the rule of thumb is
to always make a backup
of the registry whenever
you want to modify it -
just in case you need
to revert back.

one method is with
the system restore feature
built in windows. with it
you can backup those vital
system files to restore your
system.

however, because one
never really knows how
functional or dysfunctional
a pc might be, you should not
always rely on system restore
as the absolute method for
backing up the registry hive.

therefore in order to be doubly
sure that you have a fail safe
method to restore a registry use a
nifty little tool from here:

if restoring your reg is needed
i would use system restore
firstly.

In control panel---printers--right click on printer and delete.

Ronald - you do not mention printer brand, however check the web site for
uninstallation utility.

Just go to the Print Server Properties, Driver Tab and remove them. (See
Print Server in Windows Help and Support)
