administrator user not seen on log-in screen

From the "computer management" utility I can see there are 2 users from the
administrators group (the default administrator account and "mike"). The
only accounts that appear on the log-in screen are "mike" and "guest". If I
want to delete "mike" I need to do it from the "administrator" account but I
can't access it.
How do I make this account visible?

How can we know your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP Pro SP3)?

If I remember correctly, if you boot in SAFE MODE it will show the
administrator at the welcome screen. But it's been a while since I
tried that.......

True, safe mode is good. Please make sure you unplug from the 'Net Matrix
before you do any repair work.

If people would do a simple Google search for answers before posting
here this place would be pretty much empty.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/05/07/unhide-the-administrator-account-in-windows-xp/

was the first answer Google offered me and it seems to be spot-on (at least
for someone who can use regedit safely).

Of if the need is to simply log on as some hidden account one can give the
three-finger salute twice at the usual click-n-pick login screen and an
old-fashioned NT login screen where any user name can be typed in will appear.

Google is nice but it gets so boring doing mundane searches all day and
people like to post for contact to but thanks anyway for your opinion, John.
