Hey all,
Well, my Internet Explorer desktop icon disappeared randomly two days ago.
I found multiple KB articles on this referring to a regedit that would fix
this problem, however the regedit DOES NOT make the icon nor the IE desktop
icon checkbox reappear. I know I can make a shortcut, which I have done,
however it's much more useful to have the correct icon that I can right
click to get properties/delete cache, etc. Any ideas? My setup: Vista
Home Premium, SP1, IE 7, all patches and updates up to date. To repeat I
have already tried the registry edit below and it DOES NOT work:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel]
"{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}"=dword:00000000
Help?
