Having problems. VISTA Home Premium. Compaq F500 laptop.
The only changes to hardware or software for a month is MS Updates.

Installed DVD drive properties in Device Manager is:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Recently installed KB935652. Anyone know of problems with this update or a
work around?

I saw that but was hoping for a VISTA specific work around.

I drilled through the regisistry and backed up the key. The key didn't have
'UpperFilters' but did have 'LowerFilters' which I deleted. I then went back
to device manager and uninstalled thee DVD in error then scanned for new
devices. The DVD was reinstalled correctly.

I am now wrestling with problems on my home entertainment server (Vista
Ultimate x64 on AMD 4200 X2 + 2gb) I will post separately as more complex.
