Hi,
We have a problem on one of our Domain Controllers which is running windows
2003 R2 server (SP2)
The server almost ran out of disk space I have managed to free up enough
disk space to give us some breathing room, but the MAJOR problem we have is
Windows Explorer is reporting that there is only 602MB free on the 8GB System
(C) drive.
But if you run chkdsk it reports that 4314608 KB is available (i.e. 4GB of
space)
Does anyone know how we can get the windows to recognise that we have 4GB of
free space and not 602MB
If we do a dir /a /s it reports that 4,029,885,992 bytes are used and that
631,287,808 bytes are free
The drive is formatted with NTFS
Disk Management shows that Capacity is 7.91GB & Free Space is 3.87GB
So we are baffled as to why windows is saying we only have 602MB of free
disk space
I have already run a chkdsk /f and rebooted the server which made no
difference, and I have defragged the C drive several times which also made no
difference.
