Windows update can't check for updates because the service is not running.

I am not able to update my system.

Error:- Windows Update: "Windows update can't check for updates because the service is not running. You may need to restart your PC. "

 

I am getting this error on my Windows 8 x64 after my Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 detected a malware 2 days ago.

 

How can I troubleshoot this issue?
