windows update does not appear on the list of services on my widows 7 computer

I had not used my laptop in almost 6 weeks and I noticed there were no updates coming in. I started snooping to see

if the service was running. It doesn't exist on the list of services..... It was updating ok in later January of 2013.

So I then went to the software distribution folder under windows and it did have several updates hung up in there.

I deleted them and re-booted just to see if it would help. No luck..... Can I copy that folder from my other windows 7

PC and dump it onto my laptop? Or is there and even more simple fix? Thanks very much for anyone out there that

can give me some insight.
