Am I suppose to download and update drivers/Updates from Microsoft/Window websites ?

I was browsing through Microsoft and Windows Sites and cam across a lot of Driver Updates, Security Updates, etc....And my question is should I be checking these sites periodically for these and searching for the ones that pertain to my PC and then Downloading

and Updating from here as well as getting them through the Windows Update?
