I get the &quotFiles required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer&quot error. After chasing all over the internet for the last 6 days looking up various errors, the consensus is to re-register MSXML3.Dll. However, this

fails with &quotDllRegisterServer in msxml3.dll failed&quot, whether I do it as administrator or not. The problem may be that MSXML 3.0 is not installed apparently (not in Add or Delete programs list). Whether it was installed and somehow got deleted, I have no idea.

Previously, I was having update problems with .net fixes, so (with great difficulty) I deleted and re-installed the .net frameworks. The problem may have arisen there. I would download/install MSXML 3.0 but there doesn't seem to be one available. Anybody have

any ideas? Thanks!
