Random call from company claiming to be under contract with Microsoft.

I just had a call from PC Rescue who said my computer was severly compromised. A technician said that they are contracted with Microsoft to call and fix critical errors. Has anyone had a call like this before? I just ran a scan and it said that there

are no viruses. I stopped the call because it seemed fishy.
