Repeated updates

Whenever you click on the start icon to shut-down your pc, there is an alert icon indicating available updates. I have installed the latest windows 7 updates, same updates, several times. After the shut down &amp restart, it stills shows the alert icon that

indicates that updates need to be installed. How do you get rid of the alert icon?
