4 daysrepeated failures when attempting to install Windows 7 Platform Update KB2670838 &amp IE 10. I'm running Win7 Home Premium with SP1 &amp all current updates. Repeated attempts to install KB2670838 result in failure error 80073712.

This is a platform update required to install IE 10, which will also not install &amp generates error 9C57.

Repeated attempts have been made to install KB2670838 using Windows update and manual update. Troubleshooting tools (Fix-It) have been run multiple times with results stating errors have been found &amp fixed. Text reporting the

fixes made is shown below, &amp is identical on every occasion:

· Potential Windows Update Database error detected 0x80073712 - fixed

· Windows Update components must be repaired - fixed

· Problem with Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) - fixed

I then retry the install and am told the update was successfully installed.

When I check update status, the update is not listed.

Restart, Check for Updates and KB2670838 is again listed as a required update.

I even purchased software which was advertised to fix the problem. It did not.

HELP!!
