I cannot install a wireless device as it says i need to install some updates so i want to install SP2 to get everything up to date and sorted.. only thing is i heard that if you install sp2 then you cant uninstall it and also sometimes the BIOS will be incompatable so i have to re-install XP... but i dont have re0install discs... any one help?? can i put sp2 on ok? thanks, matt320

First, however, you need to insure that your computer is ready for SP2 (see instructions on the MS site). In particular, make certain that there is no malware on the system. It might be possible to remove sp2, but it certainly would be hard. Prudent people always backup their systesm before installing such an upgrade. Yes, your BIOS may need to be updated for whatever the SP2 changes need. Only the manufacturer knows though. It took me 2 hours to get the job done, in August of 2005. I thought that I was a bit late you are way way late. By the way, after you are done and have your firewall working and AV software working, get the 80+ updates which have been produced since SP2. Installing them will keep you busy for quite a while. Jim
