Epson WF 3520 scanner driver issues

I have been told by Epson support that the following is a Microsoft issue.

 

I have an Epson WF 3520 printer. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. I have tried loading drivers from the disk supplied with the printer / scanner and also tried loading new drivers from Epsom's site as advised by them.

 

I have done this many, many times uninstalling and deleting appropriate files between attempts.

 

The printer drivers load fine and I can print wirelessly with no issues.

 

But I can not load the scanner drivers no matter what I do. Every time I try I get the message "cannot load scanner drivers".

 

I have successfully loaded drivers and used the printer and scanner on two other laptops - one running the same version of Windows 7 and one running Windows 8.

 

Any assistance would be appreciated.
