Administrators AWS Posted May 3, 2013 Administrators Posted May 3, 2013 Hi there,I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) Service Pack 1.IE9 is already installed: Version 9.0.8112.16421. Update versions 9.0.4 (KB2618444)Whenever I run Windows Update, it offers me:"Windows Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems". (36.7MB)I am also offered:"Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" (69.1MB)If I try to install IE9, it fails, with the error: Code 9C48: Windows Update encountered an unknown error.If I try to install IE10 instead, it also fails, with the error: Code 9C59: Windows Update encountered an unknown error.I have tried running SFC /scannow, but it finds no errors that it believes need to be corrected.I have cleaned and optimised the registry, removed internet cache, ran malware scans and anti virus scans.I have also tried uninstalling IE9 via the uninstall method through the control panel -> programs and featured -> installed updates, but it fails, saying: Windows Update: An Error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled.I have tried uninstalling IE9 using Microsoft Fix it from the "How to uninstall IE( when the standard method does not work" link, but that fails also.I have also tried to uninstall IE9 using the FORFILES method, from the same link, but that fails on certain modules and upon reboot, I have also tried stopping windows update service, renaming the downloads folder, restarting the windows update and trying again, but to no avail.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Regards, View this thread
