Guest stewart Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Okay, I've had to uninstall and reinstall NET Framework 2.0 several times over the last few months to fix previous failed updates, but now there is a new twist - Net Framework 2.0 refuses to uninstall. The uninstall fails after reporting a program is dependent on NF 2.0. Not a clue what that program might be (just provides a bunch of numbers - really wonderful user interface). So now I have an update that won't install, with the only known fix being to reinstall something that flatly refuses to uninstall. Just frigging dandy. Now what should I do? The only things installed since those previous incidents is a bunch of MS Office applications - hundreds of megabytes I have no desire to uninstall/reinstall just to perhaps fix this issue. At this point, I'm getting truly angry about all these failed updates every few weeks. I had other things I wanted to do tonight. Instead, I'm messing with this irritating nonsense once again, and will probably be doing so for the next several days. No wonder more and more people are searching for an alternative operating system. stewart

Guest sherlockomes Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 RE: KB928365 Failed (XP, SP2), Common NET Framework Uninstall/Reinstal Hi Stewart: an option would be to just download and re-install the .NET framework 2. over the existing one that won't un-install. I have done this in past with programmes that won't un-install.It might work . cheers Scott. Guest bigdeal Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 RE: KB928365 Failed (XP, SP2), Common NET Framework Uninstall/Reinstal I am having trouble installing three updates from July. They are cricial ones. They have downloaded, but I can not for the life of me get them to install. d_may "stewart" wrote: > Okay, I've had to uninstall and reinstall NET Framework 2.0 several > times over the last few months to fix previous failed updates, but now > there is a new twist - Net Framework 2.0 refuses to uninstall. > > The uninstall fails after reporting a program is dependent on NF 2.0. > Not a clue what that program might be (just provides a bunch of > numbers - really wonderful user interface). > > So now I have an update that won't install, with the only known fix > being to reinstall something that flatly refuses to uninstall.
