xp here

I uninstalled .NET 1.1 & 2

reinstalled them followed with the current security updates for the two.

Pain in the neck.

with 1.1 at ms downloads there's

..NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

..NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

that needed installed... before the 1.1 security update stuck.

Re: Update -.NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack -Multiple ins

Can someone make it simple for me?

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB928365) fails

to install, every day, however (KB928366) installs every time during the

install session.

Surely Microsoft must be aware of this problem from all the posts but they

are doing nothing about it. I don't plan to pay $200-$400 for a support

call. What options are open to me?

I can't believe that it's necessary to uninstall parts or all of .Net and

start all over again.

Has anyone come up with a simple solution to this problem?

Thanks folks- I work mostly in Unix and never have problems like I have in

Windows, and I don't have the slightest knowledge about Windows XP SP2

internals, or any version of windows for that matter.

Some can't get them to install, some can't stop it installing - I don't know.

Only option is to start a free Windows Update support incident request:

RE: Update -.NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack -Multiple ins

AMEN !! I have less and less confidence in Microsoft every day. When a person

has to install several programs to solve problems with the OS and Internet

Explorer there is something definitely wrong and its not the people using the

computers. I have 3 different brands of computer and the same problems occur

over and over. Microsoft releases new versions and hasn't even come close to

getting the bugs out of the current version. And the new version has more

bugs in it than the older version. It makes one think that raking in the

money for the newer version it all that they care about. I spend almost as

much time searching for solutions to problems as I do doing what I want to on

the computer. Their support is the most inefficient of any place that I have

had to use. The people that have home offices and depend on the computer for

their livelihood have my deepest sympathy.

I wish Microsoft CEO would read these posts !!!!!! ( any one have his email

address ? ).
