Windows Update May 21/22 C:\Windows\sstem32\config\systemprofile\Desktop missing.

This is an additional query to a similar one left by another user and the Community response was to insert a Desktop Folder into systemprofile.

 

I have a black screen with only Recycle Bin Icon displayed. Using Task Manager to try to open windows Explorer results in the following message:

 

"explorer.exe

 

An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist"

 

followed by another similar message referring to Shell::::{52205fd8-5dfb-447d-801a-d0b52f2e83e1}

 

I can see all the folders via Task Manager but most applications are giving similar messages.

 

No Sound

 

No Wifi

 

Cannot access System Restore or Windows Rollback.

 

The only thing I have managed to get to work is "Microsoft Match-up" - which is not much fun let alone any use to anyone :-(
