Guest V.A.Schaefer Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 My PC was one of the many that experienced the USB problem caused by a Windows 10 update from February 2018 (its KB ID ended in 588). The problem was (and still is) that none of my USB devices work on any USB port, except for the WD Passport external drive. Most notably, my Logitech wireless trackball doesn't work, so I've been using a PS/2 mouse instead. (My trusty old IBM keyboard uses PS/2.) I have a CTS PC, built from standard components in 8/2015. The motherboard is an ASUS H81M-C. When I tried getting help then, several moderators offered suggestions and I tried them all, and when subsequent updates were offered that were supposed to fix the problem, I installed them. Currently, my PC is reportedly up-to-date to version 1803. However, I still have the problem that my system shows USB ports working and drivers OK, but no USB device works except the Passport drive. By the way, I've tried the trackball trackball transceiver in the USB 3.0 as well as 2.0 ports. One thing I've not tried is using Restore to restore to a point before 3/2/2018 when I installed the offending update (ending in 588). I'd rather not do that unless it's necessary, but am willing to do so if that's the only way to fix the problem. What do you think about that idea? Do you have any other suggestions for fixing the problem at this point? Thanks for your attention to this. Continue reading... Quote
