After latest Windows 10 auto Update Can't access Desktop or Start Button

After logging into my account I get this message: c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop is not accessible access is denied. I then can close the error message and I'm left with the recycle bin (which I can't open) and what looks like the start button but nothing happens when I right or left click on that. When I try to open the recycle bin I get an error message: Explorer.EXE An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist.

I was able to use DOS to look at the drive and it shows my desktop with all the folders I have. I have also tried to rollback and restore. It said there is nothing to rollback to and for restore it said I have no restore points even though I know that I do. This Lenovo laptop also has windows 8.1 installed on it as well. However Windows 8 was not a previous installation. I installed it while Windows 10 was already on the computer. That was done a year ago and has never caused any problems. I am able to login to my Windows 8 installation and that is operating normally.

I appreciate any help that anyone can offer.
