Guest J Scar Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I have Windows XP with the Office XP Small Business Package. I received the automatic update for Service Pack 3. After going through the installation, I am now unable to open any Office files. The error from Excel is: "Unable to read file" from Word: "The file _____ is unavailable". How can I correct this so that I can access my files again? I've read that the SP3 cannot be uninstalled - is this true?
Guest TaurArian [MS-MVP] Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923618 There were some known issues with SP3 - have a look at the above article and scroll to known issues. As for removal - "There is no option to remove this download by using the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel. To remove Office 2003 SP3 from the computer, you must remove Office 2003. Then, reinstall Office 2003 from the original Office 2003 CD.
